This 72-acre city park isn’t set up for walkers as much as it is for many other recreational enthusiasts. The park has a penned-in dog park (looks like fun dogs hang out here!), 9-hole disc golf course, playing fields, a sandy beach and swimming area (fabulous!), sledding hills, picnic tables, a boat launch, etc. But I found that you could do a decent ~1.2-mile loop around the park’s perimeter if you combine the park roads with a few short paths.

I recommend starting at either of the large parking areas by the boat launch or the beach. There’s a skinny path connecting these two lots that runs between the river and the playing field fence. If you’re going clockwise, you’ll find a little grassy picnic area next to the beach (just east of it). Cross this area to reach a small bridge to the next set of playing fields and baseball diamond. Continue along the edge of the field until you reach a track into the woods. The next leg through woods is the wildest part of the walk (but “wild” isn’t really the right word!). The path is wide and easy, and you’re never far from human life.

The forested leg ends at Main Street, and if you want to make the round, you’ll have to walk a short distance along the road before re-entering the park. Then stick close to the edge of the fields (western side) until you reach the gravel road (closed seasonally) to the boat launch. Walking along this road is nice as well, since you’re close to the river.

You can also follow other mowed trails crossing the park’s interior fields. Picnic tables have been set up in a couple of places.

Directions: The address is 550 Main Street in Biddeford.
