Viking and Riverside Trail, Paris

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: Not sure
  • Trail Mileage: 2.7 miles in network
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Sights: woods, Little Androscoggin River

This is a well-maintained trail near a busy road and sewage treatment plant, but despite these things, it can be quite charming with plenty of nice spots along the way. The entire trail network is about 2.7 miles. The trail links the high school with the middle school, and part of it is wheelchair accessible. (Although it might be hard for some people to get up a wooden ramp near the old iron bridge.)

My map doesn’t show a few alternative paths in the woods. I was here in November, 2016, and the leaves on the ground made me miss a few intersections.

This trial is maintained by Healthy Oxford Hills. More information at Maine Trail Finder.

Directions: You’ll see a kiosk for the trailhead from the parking lot of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. You can also start at the the Oxford Hills Middle School. The high school is off Route 26, across the street from Paris Farmers Union. Coming from South Paris it is 1.1 miles from the junction of Routes 117/26, and from Norway it is a little less than a half mile from Route 118. The middle school is off Pine Street.
