This 118-acre preserve, protected by Coastal Mountains Land Trust, makes a 2.4-mile loop through mixed hardwood and oak-pine forest, starting in a grassy field. It also connects to the long Hills to Sea Trail, giving visitors an option to extend their walk. The trail is well-marked and mostly level, offering a peaceful excursion.

The preserve is named for an old stonewall enclosure on the property known as the town pound, where townsfolk would keep cattle that had strayed off their owners’ fields.

Directions: The address for the trailhead and parking area is 288 Kendall Corner Road, in Waldo.
