Cross River Preserve

Boothbay, Lincoln County

QUICK TRAIL FACTS

  • Preserve Size: 19 acres
  • Trail Mileage: 1-mile loop
  • Pets: yes
  • Difficulty: easy to moderate
  • Sights: wetlands, Cross River

This 19-acre preserve is located off of fast Route 27. The trail is a little less than one mile, and takes you to a view of the wide, tidal Cross River, as well as across a pretty stream that cascades over smooth ledge. The path, while mostly flat, descends slightly as it approaches the river, so expect a hill, as well as your standard Maine fare of roots and rocks.

Directions: Coming north, look for the preserve parking area on your right after the Boothbay Animal Hospital and Animal Playhouse. If you’re coming from the south, the preserve is on your left soon after you pass River Road.
