QUICK TRAIL FACTS
- Preserve Size: 25 acres
- Trail Mileage: 1 mile
- Pets: yes
- Difficulty: easy
- Sights: forested wetlands
The easy one-mile loop in the forest can be quite wet, but the land trust has laid down lots of log bridges to keep you dry! Forested wetlands, like any wetland, help filter water, control flooding, store carbon, and provide critical habitat for species like the endangered Blanding’s turtle and spotted turtle (which also like vernal pools). They serve as a kind of sponge, ever so slowly releasing the water they hold.
Directions: The trailhead is located at the intersection of Old Road with State Road (Route 103), across the street from the Fogg Memorial Library. Park at the John F. Hill Grange Hall. The trail begins behind the grange.
