QUICK TRAIL FACTS
- Preserve Size: 156 acres
- Trail Mileage: 1.3 miles
- Pets: yes
- Difficulty: easy to moderate
- Sights: stone walls, ruins of old farmstead
The 156 acres at this Great Works Regional Land Trust preserve offer a satisfying figure-eight double loop walk (the best trail shape!) and beautiful, healthy-seeming mature woods. There are crumbling stone walls, as well as the impressive foundations of the Boston family farmstead, accessible via a little leg off the main loop. The preserve also includes the family cemetery.
The land had been owned by the same family – the Bostons and their descendants – for more than two hundred years, according to reporting by Seacoast Online. The family stewarded the land well for those two centuries, and today it’s a joy to walk through the forest. The terrain is mostly flat, with some moderate ups and downs.
The preserve also abuts the Hilton-Winn Preserve and contributes to 6,000 acres of uninterrupted protected land. A wonderful accomplishment!
Directions: The parking area is off N Village Rd in Ogunquit, about 0.4 miles north of the intersection with Ogunquit Road and about 1.4 miles south of the intersection with Tatnic Road.
