- Difficulty: easy to moderate
- Sights: forest, streams
This donated 91-acre parcel of land connects to the 48-mile Hills to Sea Trail, and is accessible off the Clark Road, as the name suggests! It is protected by the Sebasticook Regional Land Trust.
The moderately easy trail follows the Hills to Sea Trail for about 0.2 miles, before branching off to the right to do a lollipop loop. A portion of the loop follows a wide snowmobile trail, and there are two easy crossings over streams. The mixed forest was filled with the songs of warblers and a Scarlet Tanager the day we visited. The total mileage for the walk is about 1.5 miles.
Parking is a bit limited — there’s a pull-off for one, maybe two cars if you squeeze in. Other cars can park on the road shoulder. Also, be careful at the start of the walk as the trail cuts through a patch of poison ivy. A sign warns walkers to take care.
Directions (from land trust): From Unity center, travel south on Route 202 toward Albion then take a left onto Quaker Hill Rd. Travel 2.4 miles and take a slight left onto Town Farm Rd. for 0.9 miles then take a right on to Hunter Rd. Drive for 2 miles until you take a left onto Clark Rd. Drive another approximately 0.75 miles where you will see the Clark Road Wildlife Preserve sign on the right.
